Great little militaria show!

Greetings militaria collectors!

Things have been busy as usual here at Manion's. I'd meant to get these pics from the Minneapolis St. Paul show up sooner, but have just now gotten around to it. Sorry about that, but here they are. Like I've said before - it's a great show held in a historic building on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, and hosted by the Battlefield Store.

Our next stop will be November 9-10 at the West Coast show in Pomona, California, hosted by Vintage Productions. It will be my first time at the event and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope to do some live bogging, take some pics for sure, and maybe shoot some video as well. So, those of you who can't make it - you can check in here!

Anyway, here's the Minnesota pics, there's no real details of specific tables or exhibits, but gives you an idea of the venue.

Stay tuned for updates.

Walk ins welcome

Hello again folks.

For those of you who have stopped by our offices, you know it's not exactly a "walk in" type of facility, but it is no problem for someone to swing by and bring in consignment and take a look around, or just stop by hang out for a bit.

We had a nice visit the other day from the grandchildren of a WWII vet with a footlocker full of goodies. It's always nice to see items come right out of a footlocker - especially if they're WWII German!

Anyway, here's some pics - check the auction soon, they should be up any day now.

Hitler's globe

Hello again,

I guess by now many of you have seen the story about how an US WWII vet is selling Hitler's globe.

The auction house is expecting it to sell for 15 to 20k - which is most definitely way undervalued. Considering we recently received 35k for one of Eva Braun's dresses, I would expect the globe to go for well over 50k and wouldn't be surprised if it were to hit 100k. If it were to be listed on www.manions.com, it would certainly bring more than 15 to 20 - no doubt about it.

You know, this just goes to show you that there are still many more great military collectibles out there. It may not be the "good old days" that many of you talk about, but it is still an exciting time to collect these items.

Myself, I never knew these "good old days". For me, they're right now.

MAX Show - after action report

Hello folks.

We've returned from the MAX show, and what a show it was. We took in quite a bit of consignment, and Guy took a side trip to Virginia to pick up some more as well. I've posted some pics from the event below.

We're headed to Minneapolis Saturday and Sunday for the Minneapolis Military Relic and Weapons Collector show sponsored by Battlefield Store. It's a great show, really a buyer's event.
If you live nearby, you should try to make the trip.

On another note, most of you have seen the Stolen Valor section in the column on the left of Manion's Collecting News. I have started adding links to related news stories, seems like they're coming out all the time, so check back often to ensure you are aware of what is going on.

Also, here's a link to a great Luftwaffe collector's blog -

Here's the pictures from the MAX Show. Stay tuned for updates
